The Local

Finished: XI discovered this game from the Virtual Moose March 9 Indie Game Roundup.
It's free, so there's little reason not to check it out.
The Local is a game where you parkour around and move very fast. You can do popular FPS movement tech like bunny hopping. It's the type of game that is made for a specific type of person. If it clicks for you, then you will really like it. I am that specific type of person, apparently.
Upon loading the game and doing the tutorial, I thought that the game was too fast. I'm not a big movement FPS player, so it took some figuring out.
But, when I got into the game and started moving around, I understood.
I get it.
The movement is exhilarating. It's incredibly satisfying to string a series of maneuvers to try and keep your momentum. You can gain incredible amounts of speed and absolutely fly through the map.
I like playing the Orders game mode. You have to run around the big open world while gathering and delivering different materials. I really like the improvisational aspect of getting a new order and having to figure out how to get there from your current location while gathering resources.
This game came out of nowhere for me, and I need to play more.
