Tinkering: I understand why people like fixing old cars
I’ve known that people liked to fix up old cars as a hobby but I thought that was very specific and niche.
Similarly, people like making game engines. I am not one of those people.
Though, I realized that I like to do the same thing with this website. I love thinking about all of the systems of the site and how they all come together. I love thinking about the ways that I could put new things together or streamline something.
Obviously, I’m backed up by the work of countless others who created the things that allowed me to do this, but it feels nice to have played a part in the creation of a thing, regardless of the scale. It feels nice to grow attached to the processes and tools I use to do things as much as the end result.
