Do We Just Keep Going?

YouTube person Stephen Georg of StephenVlog released a video titled "Ending Daily Vlogs after 15 Years", which is exactly what it sounds like.

TL;DR He's been vlogging every day for the past 15 years, and he stopped doing that at the start of 2025. He's not ending the channel completely, just not going to do it daily.

It's shocking to me because I've been watching the daily vlogs for years and it has been a constant in my life for so long.

In the video, he talks about pushing through burnout. He was so caught up with working on the vlog, and was never able to really think about how bad it was for his health. Even though he still really enjoys making videos, it was hurting him to go at that pace for so long.

I'm in a similar situation where i hadn't really given myself the opportunity to even consider the idea of being burnt out. There's always the feeling in the back of my head of the need to keep the wheels turning forever. As a result, I just keep foolishly moving forward as if everything is fine, and I end up dealing with the symptoms as they come up.

For me, college was such a blur of "I don't have time to think about the negative feelings right now" and I still haven't really processed that. It was always just a struggle to stay afloat.

But, Stephen is right: you're never really rid of it and it catches up to you.

Here I am: a recent graduate at the cusp of a """real adult life""". I guess I have to get the wheels spinning back up again. The natural thing to ask is:

Is this it? Is that what living is like? Do we just keep going? Forever and ever until we realize that we can't? Until we realize that it was unhealthy to let things get to this point?

For Stephen, this change was greatly needed. He's able to actually rest some days and the vlogs that he does make are ones where he can focus much more creative energy on.

Stephen has the habit of working himself to the bone and then dialing things back when he realizes that it has significantly hurt his health.

So, at least there is some hope that things can get better, despite letting things get this bad.
